(NEWS RELEASE)
New Berlin, New York – July 1, 2013: The Second Annual Unadilla MX Rewind has concluded. Held the weekend of June 14-16, the event was another resounding success, and the estimated 2,000 folks who attended were all treated to an amazing weekend which included AHRMA cross-country, vintage, and post-vintage motocross racing, stories from the racing careers of over fifteen former racing legends, and even some tall tales around the campfires.
“Overall, despite some weather related challenges, the event went very well, and the turn out we had was great” said Greg Robinson, owner of the famed race track and son of legendary race promoter Ward Robinson. “I really can’t thank everyone enough – from the racers, to the legends, to all the fans for coming out. We had over 925 racers competing during the three days. Everyone there helped make it a very special weekend, and one that has already spurred us on to work on our plans for next year’s MX Rewind 2014”.
Legend riders in attendance included: Gary Bailey, Guy Cooper, Sonny DeFeo, John DeSoto, Tony Distefano, Barry Higgins, Mickey Kessler, World Champions Brad Lackey and Danny LaPorte, Ron Lechien, John and Jack Penton, Warren Reid, Denny Schwartz and Bruce Stratton.
One of the many highlights of the weekend included Guy Cooper putting on yet another amazing show, racing just about anything he could get his hands on, and literally riding the wheels off of the machines. As well as finding out what Ron Lechien was the first pro racer to do! As a throwback to days of old, on Saturday morning the first racers out in practice were treated to a grassy Unadilla racetrack.
Racers looking for photos of their weekend racing exploits and fans alike can find over 2,000 photographs and images by viewing famed photographer Paul Buckley’s galleries at http://www.buckleyphotos.com.
MX Rewind will return for 2014, and it is one race you won’t want to miss! Dates for the 2014 event will be announced this fall.
