Mees to miss Lima and Hagerstown

(NEWS RELEASE)

Defending Grand National Champion #1 Jared Mees will be officially sitting out the next two Grand National Championship Series Races. Starting with this weekend’s Lima Ohio National and concluding with the Hagerstown Grand National. Jared said, “The plan right now is to return to racing at the Grays Harbor Half Mile in Elma Washington on July 20th”. That’s the good news!

What started out as a awesome night of Half Mile Racing at the Ashland County Fairgrounds in Ohio last Friday night turned bad quickly in Expert Twins practice, when Mees went down hard in turn two. Track and medical crews were on the scene quickly and Jared was taken to the hospital where X-rays confirmed the bad news.

Jared’s right arm was broken (ulna bone which is the smaller of the two bones in a person’s forearm)) Sunday morning surgery was performed to repair the damage, and the doctors are saying 3 weeks until Jared can be back racing.

At this point, the pain will slowly subside, but the risk for infection is there because there was some hardware involved in the surgery. “I’ll have to take it easy for the next few weeks, but I plan on being at Lima to spectate” said Mees.” My spirits are good, and I am eager to get back racing”…There is still a lot of racing to be done, and Jared Mees has his sights on coming back strong for the second half of the season.
