A Ton of Mid-’80s Superbikes

Rod Cohen, on a Honda CB1100F, leads Dennis Johnson (No. 100 Yamaha FZ750), Kurt Dean (Kawasaki GPz750) and Greg Goulding (No. 704 Yamaha FJ1100) through turn five at Road Atlanta during a WERA regional race in August of 1985. That’s some serious mid-‘80s heavy metal. Add them up and that’s a ton’s worth of Superbikes. In those days, with bikes this heavy, it was a major accomplishment if you could get through an eight-lap sprint race without brake fade.

  1. Oooh, CB1100F! Last of the transverse, inline 4, aircooled UJM Superbikes.

Love ’em so much, I have three; 2 OMT Superbikes and a stocker. (I know, some people just ain’t right!)
