Ashmead at Elkhart Lake

John Ashmead speeds his Honda VFR750 through Road America’s turn five during the AMA Superbike event at the track in June of 1987. The Floridian scored a pair of top-10 finishes in the series in 1987, including a fourth at Sears Point. Two years later Ashmead won the Daytona 200 on this bike that was by that time considered woefully outdated. It was perhaps the most unexpected victory in the history of the race.
