Tiger Contemplates at Elkhart Lake

Takahiro “Tiger” Sohwa looks a bit disappointed in spite of earning a second-place finish in the 1993 AMA 750 Supersport at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. Tiger might have been told that the AMA was scrutinizing the brakes on his Muzzy Kawasaki ZX-7. Sohwa was later DQ’d when it was found that his factory machine was running a front brake caliper from a 1991-92 ZX-7. I don’t know if the decision was ever appealed, but that season Tiger narrowly lost the 750 Supersport Championship to Yoshimura Suzuki’s Britt Turkington.  Tiger was one of the leading road racers in the AMA during the mid-90s. In addition to racing Supersport he was also a factory Kawasaki and Ducati Superbike rider.
