Colorado’s Ricky Orlando races his Honda 500 Interceptor at Road Atlanta during the Honda 500 Interceptor Challenge at the WERA GNF in 1986. Orlando was part of a very strong MRA contingent that raced in the Interceptor Challenge that year, including riders like J.T. Terry, Geoff Cesmat, Danny Walker and Philip Johnson. Orlando finished 10thin the race, which was run on a wet to drying track. Orlando has a rich history in road racing, having started in the mid-1970s, becoming one of the top AMA Superbike riders of the mid-1980s and scoring some other surprising results along the way. I’m featuring Orlando in an upcoming Cycle News Archives. Keep posted.
