Ocala, FL. (January 11, 2013) – “Our goal is to provide a safe, consistent, exciting race environment that the fans, racers and their families will enjoy, as well as be proud of.”, says the SDTA (Southern Dirt Track Association). Building up the flat track scene in Florida has been the SDTA’s main goal for the last few years. RIDE Academy shares this vision and hopes to do their part by providing the knowledge the crew has learned over the years to riders of all ages and skill levels.

“Marion County Speedway will host the largest school to date, where we will be providing all of our students with the same formula we have been implementing since we started in 2010.”, says Mike Hacker, founder of RIDE Academy. The RIDE crew of Mike Hacker, Kenny Coolbeth, Johnny Lewis and Kenny Lamberti will be joined by two young guns: 2012 AMA Pro Singles race winners; Ryan Wells (Daytona Short Track) and Cody Johncox (Springfield Mile). “The demand for us to come to Florida was so high, we’ve chosen to bring in Ryan and Cody for the Ocala, Florida school. With such a large group of kids signed up who are ready to learn, we are excited to bring on 2 rising stars as guest instructors. We want to show the students that with determination and an open mind to take advice as well as instruction, we can help them reach their goals!”, says Johnny Lewis. In 2012, Ryan Wells didn’t even qualify for the opening round of the AMA Pro Flat Track Pro Singles Championship, but luckily he was given a second chance the following day. Ryan regrouped and went on to win the second round of the AMA Pro Flat Track Pro Singles Championship. Cody Johncox was sidelined early in 2012 with an injury sustained before the 2012 season started, but once healed he came back stronger than ever, winning the AMA Pro Flat Track Pro Singles Springfield Mile.

Students will learn a broad range of techniques. These techniques will help to reduce lap times as well as limit common mistakes which often lead to poor finishes and crashes. At RIDE Academy, each student has the opportunity for one-on-one coaching with a champion or an established pro racer. While the school’s main approach is to support flat track racers and grow the sport of flat track, there will be competitors from many disciplines of racing in attendance. RIDE is excited about some new training tools added to the school.
