A post-race photo of Eatherly Racing with riders Jeff Heino and Dave Schlosser (standing in the middle) after the team took an upset victory over Team Hammer in the WERA National Endurance race at Road Atlanta in May of 1986. If I remember correctly this was Heino’s first race at Road Atlanta and I happened to be in Eatherly’s pits after Heino came in from the first practice session. His eyes were wide and he admitted the high-speed gravity cavity and the following uphill blind turn under the bridge was more than a little intimidating. He quickly learned the circuit however and was one of the fastest riders during the endurance race. Schlosser went on to form Dutchman Racing, perhaps the most successful endurance team in AMA Endurance racing of the 1980s and early ‘90s. Note the Team Hammer helmet in the photo. Schlosser had formerly been a rider on that team.
