Haskovec Wins Daytona F-USA (2004)

Valvoline Suzuki’s Vincent Haskovec took victory in the Formula USA final at Daytona in 2004. It was the first big race for Haskovec with the Valvoline squad and the ever enthusiastic native of the Czech Republic was thrilled to get a win for his new team. “It was like our first official big race and the first outing on the beautiful new Suzuki,” said a beaming Haskovec.” I had some power on those guys. A lot of riders were right there and it was exciting, like it always is in a 600 race. My first time at Daytona in 1999, I really crashed bad in that corner (Turn One) and ended up in the hospital and lost two toes and I’m like, ‘I’ve got to work this corner out. I can’t let it beat me.’ All the credit to my team, the bike was so stable going into the corners.” Haskovec was joined on the podium by his teammate and second-place finisher Steve Rapp and Robert Jensen who was third.
