WERA Pro Series announcer Glenn Billings interviews a young Nicky Hayden (with Moto Liberty’s Sam Yamashita standing in the background) after Hayden finished a close second to Marcello Del Giudice in the Moto Liberty Formula III final at Indianapolis Raceway Park in August of 1992. The race boiled down to a last-lap draft battle on IRP’s long front straight between Marcello, Hayden and Doug Carmichael. At the flag it was Marcello by less than a wheel over Hayden, who in turn was only a bike length ahead of Carmichael. It was the closest race of the weekend. Hayden had just turned 11 a week before this race.
