Mad Dog Racing’s Michael Barnes and Jacques Guenette, who rode for Dutchman Racing, share a laugh after an AMA/EBC Brakes Endurance Challenge at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in August of 1990. The two might be joking about how sketchy the conditions were during parts of the race. It rained and, as many road racing fans know, wet riding at Mid-Ohio, with its varied racing surfaces, is one of the toughest challenges a rider could ever hope to face. In addition to endurance racing, Barnes and Guenette were two of the leading sprint racers in AMA Pro Racing during that era. Amazingly 22 years later Barnes is still winning AMA Pro road racing titles, having earned the Vance & Hines XR1200 Championship this summer.
