Check out the tail section of Chuck Graves’ Suzuki GSXR750. This is what an on-board camera looked like in 1990. Believe it or not Graves ran this camera setup on his bike in the Suzuki GSXR Cup final at Road Atlanta. In a world where every single pound counts, it’s surprising Graves agreed to have this bulbous camera gear mounted (I use that phrase lightly, check out the duct tape). Maybe Chuck can fill us in and let us know if he was paid a little extra to run the camera on his bike. Graves finished ninth in the GSXR750 final.

After looking a little more closely at this bike, this could be Graves’ GSXR1100-based F-USA machine.

I think it is his F-USA bike. I remember seeing that whole set up in a heat race I rode that he was in.

Andy, I bet you’re right. This is probably Chuck’s F-USA bike. But he did run a camera on his Suzuki Cup bike too as evidence of this video.

I remember mounting our VHS camera (bought for filming the kids and sending tapes to grandparents) on an FZR400 tank for a test. The tape jittered so bad over any bumps it was almost unwatchable. Thank goodness for GoPro and solid state media!

Came across this looking for something else. Shows how well Russell had it together. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fP7veQAvdO0
