Tommy Lynch, riding a Yoshimura Suzuki, leads Robert Wright (No. 17), Michael Martin (No. 96), Rick Kirk (No. 59) and Kurt Hall (No. 60) in the 1990 Suzuki GSXR750 Cup Final at Road Atlanta during the WERA Grand National Final. Mike Smith won the final on the track, but later withdrew his entry when it was discovered in a post-race teardown that his 1990 Suzuki used an exhaust cam from a 1989 model. That was the only downside to the Suzuki GSXR Cup races. It seemed that after every race protests and DQs followed as riders and or mechanics tried to stretch the rules, or more often than not ran on their bikes what was allowed in their particular club, but wasn’t exactly in line with the rules for the Cup finals.
