McDaniel on Vision Quest – Topeka (1990)

Mark McDaniel races the Vision Quest Suzuki GSXR1100 in the WERA 6-Hour National Endurance race at Heartland Park Topeka in July of 1990. Vision Quest, with Jeff Hagan and Robert Wright joining McDaniel, led big early in the Heavyweight Production class, but then a rider crashed in front of McDaniel leaving him no place to go and causing him to go down too. The team rallied and was charging back the front when in the last hour the bike’s front brake pads fried and they had to settle for third in class, sixth overall.

  1. Larry, I didn’t know you were there. I didn’t know McDaniels was either. Likely becaue I didn’t yet know either of you. Gawd it was hot, with an even hotter breeze coming from the south. We drove out from NY with only two of us to ride, Tim Taylor fell in practice and broke his collarbone, and then we drove home. That could also be why I didn’t see you.
