Gonyou on a Tiddler (1985)

Kevin Gonyou races what appears to be a 1970s era Yamaha 125 GP bike at Grattan Raceway in July of 1985. Gonyou scored some solid finishes in the WERA Formula 3 class that season. Racing 125cc GP bikes was quite popular in club racing in the 1960s and into the ‘70s, but the tiddler machines became a rare breed in the 1980s. They experienced a resurgence in the 1990s and became popular enough that the AMA briefly had a national 125GP road race series in mid-‘90s.

  1. Tricked out RD125 ? Not likely I know with the small air opening in front of fairing but…?
Looks like a magnesium twin leading shoe, vented Grimeca front brake. Trick stuff!
