Who in their right mind would look at a Yamaha Vision and think “road race bike”? Well thank goodness Eddie Wilbanks and Stuart Cooper did just that. Wilbanks created one of the most unique road racing machines ever seen on an AMA road racing grid and Cooper had the skills and good fortune to race it. Very cool article, Larry. Just a few years ago, Babe DeMay was running Visions on the AMA flat track circuit, with Memphis Shades as a sponsor, if I remember correctly.

I raced a stock one for a season. I couldn’t manage better than 3rd place on it. Too slow and flexy.

Slow and flexy? C’mon Lance, are you telling me your XT was super fast and rigid? I know it was faster than a stock XT, but I wouldn’t think horsepower was the reason you were so fast on that thing. You just never shut off for the corners!
