The picturesque environs of Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin’s Road America provide a pastoral backdrop for a motorcycle road race. Pictured is the AMA 250 Grand Prix final at Road America in 1988. A large crowd was on hand that day to take in the action. Many riders and fans consider the four-mile Road America their favorite road racing circuit in the U.S. (Larry Lawrence photo)
who can name the riders?

That would be tough since the riders are so small in the photo. Fortunately I have the hi-res version and could zoom in to see the riders, so I know if anyone wants to take some guesses.

I’ll go out on a limb here from memory. Lead bike is an ’88 TZ250 ridden by either Oliver or Carter of the of the Laasak Team based on design of leathers and what looks like a pair of undertail silencers. The other is an Aprilia or Rotax powered 250 as best guess. Not Honda or Yam. Could be Stephens or Leisner if Aprilia. Or maybe Coe on a Rotax??
My guesses anyway, really not much detail to go on. Lets see that high-res pic! 🙂

After seeing the high-res image it’s Brauneck on a TZ in front of Leisner on an Aprilia.
