Bruce Peterson leads eventual race winner David Merritt in a WERA Formula 2 race at Grattan Raceway in July of 1986. Peterson was racing an Armstrong GP bike, a British-built racing motorcycle that featured Rotax-built engines. If I remember correctly the water-cooled, two-stroke engine was configured in a unique tandem inline twin configuration.

What was he running for a front tire it looks very wide for ’86, compare it with Davids. Maybe a 16X3.5 that is the size of the Dymag I bought for my FZ that year, along with the 18X4 for the rear. I didn’t know the radials were coming! So the next year I had to buy all new wheels.
I believe Gary Gibson was running an Armstrong when I met him in ’84 and that was what we took to Daytona in ’85. I though the engines were very cool if a little hard to package in the short wheelbase of a 250.
Was Bruce Peterson the son of the Kaw dealer between Beloit and Rockford on 51? Aarg rotten memory.
