Gary Spears (No. 565) is on the charge on his Yamaha FZ600 as he leads a pack of riders in a CRRC C Superbike Novice race at Texas World in October of 1986. Spears is going around Russell Collins (No. 442), who seems to be off the throttle for some reason. Coming in behind Spears are Frank Klementich (No. 906), Cam Roos (No. 312) and Joseph Verdichizzi (no. 269). Spears finished on top of this group, taking third, Roos was fourth, followed by Verdichizzi (fifth) and Klementich (sixth). Collins, who I believe won the class championship that season, continued racing to seventh.
