Hutchins Garage Racing – Seattle Int’l. Raceway (1991)

The Hutchins Garage Racing crew poses for a photo after taking third overall in the SBS/PM WERA Six-Hour National Endurance race at Seattle International Raceway in June of 1991. Hutchins Garage Racing was a local squad with Bruce Lind (wearing hat) and Mark Haskins (second from the left) handling the riding. The team finished third to a pair of teams entered by Team Suzuki Endurance.  I recall Lind, using his considerable track experience, leading the first lap on the team’s Yamaha FZR1000. Lind later said, “I knew I wouldn’t be able to hold it (first place), but I had to lead the first lap at my home track.” I think the team was switching between a racing and street shifting pattern during their pit stops. When the shift linkage worked loose Haskins was told that he had to learn to shift like a real racer. The race was won by Team Suzuki Endurance II ridden by Wes Cooley and Donald Jacks.
