GTU winners celebrate on the podium after the EBC Brakes Challenge at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in August of 1990. Standing atop the podium are GTU winners Thumper Brothers, Bill Cardell and John Condron (holding up plaque), who mastered the slippery conditions winning on a wet track. Northstar GTU (standing left) took second with Scott Ruehle and Mike Moores and third was Norben Racing’s Jim Kosar and Ralph Johnson (right).  All three teams raced Yamaha FZR600s. All three GTU  teams finished in the top-10 overall, the GTU being the smaller bikes (primarily 600cc machines) and GTO the big displacement bikes.
