Hampton and the Hurricanes

Terry Hampton leads a group in what is probably a Honda contingency paying WERA C Production race, as you can tell by the field of Honda CBR600 Hurricanes. Hampton said Blackhawk Farms was one of his least favorite road courses, but he did pretty well on his Hurricane there. Hampton leads Jerry Washburn (No. 381), Jim Still (No. 25) and a couple other riders through turn four in this race held in July of 1987. A few weeks later Hampton qualified this bike just behind Doug Polen and Dan Chivington in the Mid-Ohio AMA 600 Supersport race, but crashed in Sunday morning’s practice session and rode the final with a concussion and finished mid-pack. This photo is part of the Greg Sickmeier Collection.
