  1. I believe i was there that week end but my mechanical skills failed me. After the first practice the FZ sprung a water leak that appeared to be coming from the pump but actually was coming from a wrinkled o-ring around a water pipe in the head.

Did it rain on the endurance race? my recollection is that we arrived on Sunday for the sprints and were immediately regaled with stories about the negative traction afforded by the wet traction compound in the breaking area (starting pad for the drag strip) for turn one.

My friend, who will remain unnamed, was on the flat part of the learning curve on how important it is to have good glasses, and augured into the dirt outside turn one.

  2. Pretty funny, Larry.

That place was the ultimate sheet hole. Do you remember a car load of WERA officials getting lost in East St. Louis, and having the windows broken out of their car? This place was about as safe as Wentzville.

  3. Ed, I don’t remember there being that much dirt outside turn 1, which is why I didn’t like the place. Come to think of it, turn 2 wasn’t very roomy either.

I don’t remember rain that weekend, if it’s the one I’m thinking of. Saturday night, they let all of the roadracers run drags on the strip. You had to love the smell of the industrial area just to the north of the track….lovely place.
