Steve Tayler (No. 49) races his Yamaha RZ500 in front of a big pack of riders heading into the hairpin at Indianapolis Raceway Park during a WERA sprint race (probably A Production) in September of 1984. Tayler leads Kurt Hall (No. 499), Allan Zahrt (No. 86), Mike Nelson (No. 277) and Mike Schultz (No. 367). I believe that’s David Balfour as well on bike No. 18 (second from last in this group). IRP’s hairpin was a tight left hander that many a rider overcooked, especially before they built a concrete retaining wall on the outside of the turn a year or two after this photo was taken.
