Charly Buse leads a WERA C Superstock, or possibly C Superbike race at Blackhawk Farms Raceway in June of 1991. Buse was very good at Blackhawk and won dozens of races there over the years. On this weekend, riding his Honda CBR600F2, he won the C Superstock race over Al Hall and Gaines Desloge. He finished second to Doug Henry in the C Superbike class. You can see Henry in the background on bike No. 5. I’m not sure who No. 211 is, but No. 917 is David Marchino, who won the C Production Novice class.

Go Charlie!

This is too funny. I was just talking about that weekend with Ed Key last night! I believe WERA hadn’t raced at BFR for quite some time before that weekend and it was the last time until just recently. Since I had been running there regularly with CCS I was really flying that weekend. Until I crashed out of the lead in the chicane after the carousel, might even be a couple seconds after this pic was taken.
Marshall – I switched to dirt bikes, do some enduros and hare scrambles as well as some pretty epic fun rides in CO and UT with a bunch of guys from Milwaukee area I’ve connected with. Also just bought a trials bike but apparently didn’t look it over well enough in the dark and it’s turned into a major rehab project.
Larry – Would love to buy a digital copy of this pic if possible. Can you email me info please? Great site, Mike Snyder told me about it a while back but I forgot to look at it until last night after I talked to Ed. Now I’ll have to check it out regularly and go back through the archives too.

When was the chicane after the carousel installed? I never raced the track after it was installed but, I have two trophies dated June and July of 1991. I think this turn is entering turn 4 mot turning into the chicane.
