Shaw's Hairpin at Mallory Park in England is one of, if not the tightest turn in road racing. This photo is one I took from a British Series 250GP race. (Larry Lawrence photo)
Ha, ha. No that would be a good one to try to figure. Just about every road course in the US and several in various foreign countries. All the national motocross tracks, just about all the AMA Grand National tracks and quite a few tracks that are now defunct. It would probably be close to 100 if not a little more, if you count Supercross. Thanks for making me think for a few minutes.
I only raced at Pocono once in my ten seasons. it was my second race ever. I loved turn two. It was a one line turn, and most of the silly novices would line up in a queue on the theoretical fast line and file through one at a time. It was probably the only time I used a block pass, but with the way every one was lined up I could pass three or four at a time.
I have so many memories from that one race weekend.
Yes, as others have mentioned, the Hairpin or turn two at Pocono was absurdly slow and it went from what was a no longer used oval that made up turn one’s long fast right hander (with ZERO runoff and Armco on the outside) to the jogging pace left that was T2. As Terry Hampton mentions, it dropped down about a foot mid corner onto the infield section of the track.
Still loved/hated that place as it was fun and an hour and a half from my home.

Pocono turn two in the eighty’s…was insane. The turn went around a telephone pole, and went down a foot step…LOL
