Reed’s Bad Day at the Office

Everything was going great for Mike Reed in a WERA sprint race at Indianapolis Raceway Park until he hit the carousel… literally. Reed was leading the race over Kurt Hall (60) and Ray Yoder (52) when he lost the front end in the middle of the carousel. Unfortunately for Reed, based on the second photo it looks like his bike flipped at some point before stopping.

The aftermath – instead of just sliding on its side it appears Reed’s Suzuki did at least one flip before coming to a rest, smashing the top part of his fairing. (Larry Lawrence photo)

  1. Larry, Are you sure that is the same bike in both pictures? The bottom photo shows a fairing that looks like it had 2 head lights & 2 air ducts. I don’t see the same features in the fairing in the top picture. John L.

  2. The carousel at Indy, on what looks like an early in the season race, can be a seriously slippery place. Enter a little wide, and down you go.

Is it just me, or does the corner worker in the bottom picture look a bit like Kurt Hall?
