AURORA, Ill. (April 28, 2012) – Feld Motor Sports® announced today that Mike Alessi, of Hilliard, Fla., will race in the Monster Energy Cup October 20 at Las Vegas’ Sam Boyd Stadium.

At last year’s Monster Energy Cup, Alessi qualified for the Main Events with a second-place finish in Semi #2. The veteran Supercross Class rider went on to finish 10th overall with 6-21-6 finishes.

“To know that there is a race that you can participate in and have a chance to win $1 million adds a whole new perspective to the sport, and that is exactly what the Monster Energy Cup does,” said Mike Alessi. “I am looking forward to racing in this year’s Monster Energy Cup and can’t wait to see the new track design.”

Throughout the 2012 Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, season Alessi has earned eight top-10 finishes and two podium finishes. He’s currently seventh in Supercross Class point standings, just two points out of sixth place.

The 2012 Monster Energy Cup features an all-new track design inspired by five-time Supercross Class Champion Ricky Carmichael. The Carmichael-inspired track design will consist of supercross and motocross obstacles unlike any other racetrack design in the world. More than 200’ of the track will be built into the grandstands, and the riders exit the stadium and race through the Monster Energy Fan Zone outside of the stadium and through the pit area before they catapult back into the stadium. The Monster Energy Cup posts a $250,000 purse with the winner walking away with a $100,000 check, and any rider that wins all three Main Events will take home $1 million.
