Heino, Sommers and Aleman

Jeff Heino leads a good battle inside the top 10 of the Daytona International Lightweight race at Daytona International Speedway on March 9, 1985. Heino is just ahead of Joey Sommers (No. 9) and Venezuelan Alejandro Aleman (No 692). Heino started in 250 Grand Prix racing and went on to a diverse road racing career that included Superbike, Supersport and Harley-Davidson 883 road racing. Sommers’ big claim to fame was winning the AMA 250GP at Loudon  in 1984. Aleman had raced Grand Prix with a best of fourth in his home Venezuelan 125cc Grand Prix in 1978. On this day it was Heino who came out on top of this group, finishing seventh in the race won by Freddie Spencer.
