One of the cool things about club racing is seeing riders racing together on completely dissimilar types of motorcycles, taking totally different lines, yet somehow racing wheel to wheel. Such was the case at a WERA race at Indianapolis Raceway Park in April of 1992. Taking the inside line through IRP’s carousel is Dean Hayes on the DAK Racing Suzuki GSXR 750 or 1100. Carrying more momentum around the outside on his much nimbler handling Yamaha TZ250 is Al Hall. Watching 250GP bikes race Superbikes around a road course was something to see – the 250s with a major advantage in cornering speed and Superbikes getting the nod powering out of the turns. Surprisingly, with a good rider aboard each, they would generally turn very similar lap times.
