Billy Norfleet, of Mechanicsville, Va., leads a tightly-packed group of riders in the 1990 Daytona 750 Supersport race. This shot typifies the super-tight racing the closely matched bikes produced on Daytona International Speedway’s banking. Norfleet was normally a flat tracker – his lineman boots give it away. Tucking right in behind Norfleet are Minnesotan Mike Moores, Canadian Chuck Downie (No. 127), who I believe was racing a Honda CBR600 in the 750 class, and up-and-coming Texan Michael Martin. Martin bested this group, finishing 14th out of 46 riders. Moores was 22nd, Norfleet 32nd and Downie 41st.
