Deano Swims was featured in a local news segment on an Atlanta TV station in 1984. Here’s the segment. Note Art Eckman doing the reporting and Swims is racing his famous Honda CB1100F, affectionately called “Battle Axe”. The bike was one of the fastest machines in the club ranks during the mid-1980s.
My brother is as much a leader in life today as he was then. Although there are other riders who have received “slightly” more fame than Dean, there is no man who achieved as much as he did with the limited sponsorship and financial resources he had at the time. Bottom line, Dean honed and leveraged his God given physical and mental skill set riding and wheelying the streets of Atlanta during the 70’s…then put it to work on the tracks throughout the world where he proved the Swims name worthy. Dean… Hoyt is smiling down upon you from Heaven. I enjoyed the “blast from the past” watching this video of your prowess on the track!
