The “Jammer” Jared Mees GNC National #9 has been keeping himself busy this mild winter of 2012 by chasing after a ICE Racing Championship! “Where” is there ice you ask?? Indoors of course, thanks to Brent Densford and his ICE/International Championship Events Indoor Ice Racing Series. The Indoor Series is giving some of the GNC regulars that typically do a lot of ice riding during the winter a chance to actually do some ice racing. This winter has been very mild in the lower 48 states, and as a result riders haven’t had a chance to do a lot of outdoor riding. This series has been around for a long time, and has gained a lot of popularity in the winter months.
The stage is now set for what could be the most exciting and dramatic conclusion to a World Championship Ice Racing season in the sport’s 36 year history. A new “World Champion” will be crowned this Saturday night Feb 4th, after 2 1/2 hours of high speed action packed racing has been contested in Johnstown, PA.
The ICE/International Championship Events sanctioned “World Championship Ice Racing Series” attracts many of the top professional riders on the planet. Heading up the field in Johnstown is “Jammin” Jared Mees formerly from Honey Brook, PA now making Clio, MI his home. Mees is 3-time and defending Ice Racing World Champion. He also owns two AMA Grand National Dirt Track Championships racing his Blue Springs Harley-Davidson/Rogers-Lake Racing/Screamin’ Eagle XR750 during the summer months. Jared is the odds on favorite to win it all Saturday night but there are some heavy hitters coming to town that would like nothing more than to ruin his night. Just a few of the notables are 2009 World Champion Kevin “The Viking” Anderson from Cambridge, MN; “Captain” Kirk Cheney from Hastings, MI; “Freight Train” Tom McGrane from Gapp, PA and “Sideways” Sammy Wiggins from Pomeroy, PA.
If your a Jared Mees fan, or your anywhere near the Johnstown, PA area this Saturday night, you just might want to check out some great Indoor Ice Racing action! This will be the final race in the 2012 Series. To follow Jared Mees in 2012 visit his website at: http://www.jaredmees.com
