The start of one of the first 250 moto at the Southwick National in June of 2003. Nathan Ramsey (No. 25) has the holeshot, just ahead of Ricky Carmichael (No. 4) and Kevin Windham (No. 14). Also in the photo are Larry Ward (No. 10), John Dowd (No. 16) and Ernesto Fonseca (No. 24). In the background you can also see Jamie Brockman (No. 322) and Joaquim Rodrigues (No. 108). Carmichael won the overall that year, but maybe even a bigger story was that home track hero John Dowd finished second overall. Dowd was just a couple of months shy of 38 when he scored this outstanding podium. Windham took third.
