Two-time AMA Superbike champion Wes Cooley, riding the Valvoline Suzuki, leads a pack of riders in the WERA Formula USA race at Heartland Park Topeka in July of 1990. Behind Cooley is Joe Pittman (No. 171), John Hopperstad (No. 98)and Chuck Graves (No. 120). The race was so hot, temperatures were over 100 degrees, several riders pulled out due to exhaustion. Cooley was one of them. Hopperstad ultimately was the top finisher from this group.
