I attended last Saturday’s races at Mid-America Speedway at the Marion County (Indiana) Fairgrounds on the far southeast side of Indianapolis. I watched some great racing on one of the best short-track facilities in the Midwest. Riders say this track is always incredibly well prepped and billiard-table smooth.
On this night Grand National riders Ion Stear and Sam Lowe were on hand, as was former three-time AMA Grand National race winner Danny Ingram, who is making a full comeback to racing next year.
In addition to the traditional flat track bikes there were quads and Speedway machines featured. It was a fun-filled night. I really enjoyed watching Ingram in his comeback looking so strong. Also it was great to see AMA Grand National team owner George Mack (Mack Daddy Racing) showing that he’s a very talented racer in his own right.
Here is a photo essay from that evening’s races. If you get the chance you should do yourself a favor and get out to Mid-America some Saturday night to watch the action. The track would even be a perfect venue for a Grand National.

Larry, Is Dan Ingram planning to come back as a GNC Expert? Is the Kaw 650 that he has been helping develop going to be his ride? I loved watching him ride as he came up through the ranks in the 80’s. A 1/2 mile at Rushville, IL stands out in my mind. All the juniors were treating the track like it would be a usual Illinois groove. Not Danny. High, wide, and handsome around the cushion for a victory for 99H. John Lambrick

Yes he’s slated to comeback next year, that is if he can get a pro license.

Is getting a license an issue because of the prior injury? It can’t be a skill level issue. The man can ride with the best of them. John L.

John,
His old injury may be part of it, but maybe more that he hasn’t raced in nearly 20 years. We’ll see how his comeback goes, but he looks awesome out there on the short track.
