Photo Essay: Texter’s Amazing Drive to the Front

Shayna Texter made history Saturday night in Knoxville, Iowa, when she became the first female rider to win an AMA Pro Singles race. Not only was Shayna’s win a remarkable achievement, it was made even more so by the way she did it. She got off the line poorly and was seventh on the first lap. Here’s a photo essay of how she made her way to the front on a track that was said to be difficult to pass on. All photos by Larry Lawrence. (Click on photo for large version)

  1. Good pics Larry. That is sooo bad ass. I’ve raced with her. She’s the real deal. This photo sequence tells a good story about set up ( and great riding ) Those good 450’s all make within a couple hose power of each other. She’s super light compared to the boys but her tire choice ( not type but tread depth ) and air pressure won this race. I’ll betcha there was a 2-pound difference in her tire vs Bauman. There are other variables of course but she had her set up perfect for that night. AND LOOK AT THOSE EYES IN THE RACE. Hate to be in front of that. She was on it. HUGE congratulations. Sorry boys , an ass woopin’ is what it is.

  2. Hi Larry,

Could you shoot me an email or give a call. 717.951.5620. I publish a newsprint monthly publication in PA. I’m friends with the Texters and have watched both kids grow up racing. I live just 2 miles from their shop. We are mainly a motocross pub but run a little flat track. I would like to know if you would be interested in submitting an image and short recap from Shayna’s win for our publication? My deadline is 9/19. Hope to hear from you. I like the image Shayna 6 from above.

    Thanks
