Dave Maliff races his Yamaha TZ250 past another rider on the last turn at Road Atlanta during the 1984 WERA Grand National Finals. Maliff raced from 1979 to 1985 and won the WERA Formula 2 Southeast Regional title in 1984 was slated to start from the pole at the GNF. Unfortunately for Maliff the weekend wasn’t kind to him. He blew two motors and was unable to challenge for a WERA title. Maliff had been a motorcycle mechanic for years when he decided to give racing a try for himself. He earned his pro license and raced at Daytona a couple of times. Today Maliff is retired and living in Florida. He says he still goes to Bike Week in Daytona from time to time.

Thanks for the post Larry! Old photos and memories are all that’s left from those days, if one discounts the aches and pains that came with the fun. If you look at the freshly scuffed nature of my leathers they are the result of a tumble I took at Roebling road two-three weeks before or so. I finally had that damaged right shoulder repaired just three years ago! Ouch!
I’d like to give a tip of the hat to one of my arch rivals from those days, Danny Hyatt, he used to wear me out!
Thanks, Dave
