How many ways do I love the Lima Grand National? Let me count the ways:

Dominic Beaulac won at Lima
– I love it that Lima’s pea gravel scares the pee out of Chris Carr, and nothing scares Chris Carr.
– I love the Allen County Fairgrounds and the old barns that line the outside of the track.
– I love the smell of fairgrounds food – a mix of corn on the cob, popcorn, cotton candy and beer, lots of beer.
– I love the hundreds of Harley-Davidson riders who actually ride their motorcycles to Lima. No trailers allowed.
– I love it because it doesn’t get dark until almost 10pm.
– I love Lima beans.
– I love it because Scotty Parker usually shows up at Lima and has a good time watching the races just like everybody else.
– I love it because I once met a trophy girl named Jacqueline there and she had gorgeous legs.
– I love it because cushion racing is where it’s at.
– I love it because I saw a guy named Dominic Beaulac, win there once.

Adriana Lima
– I love it because Elm Hill Mafia is an anagram of Lima Half Mile.
– I love it because crazy fans wear cardboard chest protectors just so they can watch from the fence.
– I love it because Lima put the broad in broadslide.
– I love it that the Lima surface is crushed limestone. Limestone fizzes when you pour vinegar on it.
– I love it because everyone from the AMA in the old days used to come to watch this race.
– Peru named a city after this race, and I love that.
– I love Adriana Lima.
– I love it because it’s Morehead and Roeder territory.
Let me know why you love Lima.
My favorite Lima memory is hanging on the turn 4 fence and cheering like a mad man watching Will Davis win his first National.
