OK, you know when you had a race at Road Atlanta where Kurt Hall and Scott Russell were battling over fifth place that there was some serious competition on the track. Such was the case at the 1988 Suzuki Cup races during the WERA Grand National Finals. This photo was taken late in the Katana 600 final. Hall is barely leading Russell, but the untold story is that these two talented riders who were kings at Road Atlanta were dropped by the leaders. In the end Russell got around Hall to take fifth. In a race of sheer rider ability the winner of that year’s Suzuki Cup race was David Sadowski. “Ski” was joined on the podium by Britt Turkington and Jamie James. Paul Bray took fourth.
