(NEWS RELEASE)
The 2011 season will draw to a close this weekend as the Arenacross Series competes Saturday, April 9 at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa. As one of the longest-tenured venues in AMA Arenacross Series history, Wells Fargo Arena will host the season finale for 2011 after spending the last two seasons as the host of the annual prequel race. Tickets are available for the Des Moines Arenacross at the Wells Fargo Arena Box Office, at all Dahl’s Foods locations, www.dahlstickets.com, and by phone at 866-55-DAHLS. Hurry, ticket prices rise $2 more on race day. Ticket Prices: Adults – $45, $25, $20, $18; Kids – $10, $9
One of the unique angles to the series this year is that Vicki Golden, just 18 out of Southern California, is the first female rider to ever ride full-time on the Arenacross tour. With four rounds under her belt, Vicki is continually gaining more experience in what is essentially a foreign discipline to her. After qualifying for the final eliminations in each race so far, she became the first female to qualify for a main event and now is looking to achieve a top 10 finish in her continued historic rookie season.
Vicki has become a fan favorite and is breaking all gender barriers in her sport. This will be the last weekend of the season fans can come out and see her historic season.
Fans can also expect to see Tyler Bowers, who captured his first career professional title last weekend in Rockford by grabbing his series-leading 11th victory, ride his victory lap. It’s been a dominant season for Bowers, who has rebounded from a broken leg one year ago that brought his 2010 title hopes to a heartbreaking conclusion.
