DuHamel leads Transatlantic – Mallory Park (1973)

Another in the Jim Greening Match Race Collection, this is Yvon DuHamel, on the No. 5 factory Kawasaki, leading Peter Williams (No. 12 John Player Norton), fellow Kawasaki rider Gary Nixon (4), Dave Croxford (No. 11 Norton) and Suzuki mounted Ron Grant (7) at Mallory Park during the 1973 Transatlantic Match Races.

That year was one of the closest in Match Race history with the Brits edging out the Americans by just 18 points. French Canadian DuHamel was the leading scoring for the American squad that year. The next year Yvon was voted as team captain for the Americans.

  1. Peter Williams. One of the best Brits ever on a Brit bike. His motorbike development work was on par with his racing ability…. He was excellent.
His talents screamed out for better machinery.. But he stuck with Norton.
