Former racing mechanic Marshall Rautmann was kind enough to send some photos he snapped at the races back in the 1980s. I love this kind of stuff and I hope you enjoy them as well. The pic of Polens bike above reminded me of when I went to Mid Ohio I believe it was 1988 and the Suzuki and Honda teams protested each other and they tore out the engines of the bikes after they race for AMA inspection. I stood outside the impound area and watch the crews race to get the engines out. The Yosh team won, no radiator or water to deal with! As I recall both bikes were legal!
