Classic Early F-USA Rivalry

Kurt Hall (60) was the thorn in the side of the powerful Team Valvoline Suzuki squad during the late 1980s WERA Formula USA competition. Here Hall, riding the No. 60 Human Race Team Yamaha, leads Team Valvoline Suzuki’s Paul Bray (2) and Mike Smith (6) at Road Atlanta in a regional WERA F-USA race. Hall pulled away to win the race by seven seconds over Bray. Smith was third.

  1. I think they say the current configuration of Road-A is safer but I sure miss the “Dip” (Looks like this pic was taken going under the bridge with the dip in the background)

I agree. Bray and Scott Russell were best buddies and started racing together. Bray was smoother and more precise than Russell, who was just loose and raw talent. Surprisingly with their contrasting styles they usually raced wheel to wheel.
