Nixon’s Daytona Pit Stop (1972)

Bob Hansen’s crew crowds around Gary Nixon’s factory Kawasaki KR750 during a pit stop in the 1972 Daytona 200. Nixon ran in the lead early in the race, but like so many of the fast qualifiers that year, bikes broke before the end of the race. Nixon was out after 17 laps of the 53-lap race and credited with 48th place out of 63 starters. Don Emde, who qualified 21st, went on to win the race on a Yamaha TZ350.
