Harth vs. Stevens – Rockingham (1986)

Mike Harth (112) and Thomas Stevens (90) battle in a WERA A Superbike race at Rockingham in 1986. Harth was racing a Suzuki GSXR750 and Stevens a GSXR1100. Harth’s lighter and more nimble 750 was better in the twisty infield section, but Stevens could motor past on Rockingham’s banking. In the end it horsepower won out as Stevens beat Harth to the checkered flag. (Larry Lawrence photo)

  1. Hey Larry,

Are you sure Thomas won that race??? I remember vividly (and keep in mind that I may be having a senior moment here! LMAO!) beating both of those guys and that they pestering me like a couple of aggravating flies at a picnic you can’t get rid of with a fly swatter!!! That was a turning point in time for me when I realized the “BATTLE AXE” had enjoyed it’s days in the sunshine and it was now time to move on and get a GSXR. Either get one or get left in the dust of one!!! Correct me if I’m wrong on this….as I’m sure you will!!!! 🙂
