Harley-Davidson 883 Twin Sports Action

After hearing of the passing of Randy Texter, Tony Montenegro sent in this 883 road race photo from Daytona back in the early ’90s with Montenegro (143) leading an all-star cast that includes Texter (65) and Roger Reiman (155). He says Matt Wait and Ron McGill are back there too. Classic shot with some great riders. Thanks Tony.

  1. In my opinion the 883 Twin Sport class produced some of the most exciting road races I’ve ever seen. No they weren’t pushing 200 mph but it was almost always a multi rider battle until the end. Also the above picture illustrates my favorite part of the series. It pitted current fast guys against future stars and past hot shoes such as Reiman, with all having a shot at the win. Godspeed Randy Texter.

  2. Yeah, who would have ever dreamed that Matt Wait had actually raced Roger Reiman! What a combo. Great stuff. And I’m glad people are remembering Randy.

  5. Yes agree with you all back when AMA racing had some class with atmosphere in the paddock fans in the stands and people racing each other who where friends off the track as well.. Not like the bullshit that happens nowadays … Have been supporting a team … But to be honest don’t even enjoy going to the races … So I only go to three or four a year… We’re looking at a plan to do world superbike for 2012 with Tim Hunt at least in Euorpe there are fans and fun people with atmosphere … Warmest regards Kiwi Steve #14
