Greg Tysor is a blur as he speeds down the front straightaway on his Yamaha FZ600 at Talladega Grand Prix Raceway in a WERA Sprint race in August of 1986. Tysor had a great, albeit relatively short, road racing career in both WERA and in AMA Pro events. Prior to that he was a strong regional flat track racer. He came back to flat track later in life and holds the distinction of being the oldest rider ever to make his debut in an AMA Grand National. He was 40 at the time.

Back in late 80’s I remember hearing a story about Greg at a $$ race at Summit Pt. Apparently there was some issue w/ him either on track or in the pits. The other party ate crabs Sat night at the track. Afterwards they stuck all the guts & shells under the seat of his vehicle. They baked in the sun all day w/ the windows shut.

Ouch! That’s mean.
Greg was known to be a pretty good practical joker himself. One incident had to do with him and maybe a couple of other riders pitching in and hiring an “escort” to show up at a fellow competitor’s hotel door all the while they were watching from their room across the parking lot.
Greg was hauling in some pretty decent cash from his day job and he took about eight or nine of his friends out to eat one Sunday night after a race. He told us he was going to ask the waiter what kind of tip he deserved, and whatever the guy said he was going to pay. Now all of us were hoping the guy would say, “Well I think I deserve a couple of hundred dollars after dealing with you people!” Unfortunately the young waiter comes back, Greg asks him what he thinks he should get for a tip, and the kid says something like, “Well traditionally it’s 15-20 percent…” the whole table groaned.
Good times with old Greg back then. He’s he one of racing’s true originals.

Dang , I forgot about the Cali hooker. We drove all the way to Calif ( Riverside ) for the Suz Cup finals. I think that was the only year it wasn’t @ Road A. and it got RAINED OUT ! we were sooo mad. Well after that journey we had to have some fun. For the life of me I can’t remember the name of the rider other than he was really short. Well, I called some escort company and ask for the tallest black girl available. Did not care what she looked like but we wanted tall. Well when she came to the door and the rider looked up he couldn’t even see over her boobs!! No such thing as silicone back then either!! I’m gona keep the rest to myself but it was funny!
