McCurdy’s Insights

Perhaps the most knowledgeable local newspaper reporter covering the AMA Pro SuperBike Series is Rob McCurdy, of the Mansfield News Journal. Check out his editorials, here and here, on this past weekend’s Mid-Ohio event. Rob’s reporting accurately reflects the general consensus that the new management of AMA Pro Racing (DMG) is righting the ship after Pro Racing listed precariously over the past few years.

  1. Larry,
Thank you for the kind words and generous plugs. It’s nice to see that the series has bottomed out and is making strides to improve. It’s got a long, long way to go, but I saw positive signs this weekend for the first time in four or five years.

It’s rare for a newspaper reporter to take the time to learn about motorcycle racing and its inner workings like you have over the years. I agree that things are turning around. The new DMG folks are actually asking questions and listening to the teams, riders and promoters, rather than laying down the law, take it or leave it. I suppose we dodged a bullet by not having rain last weekend. Still not sure what the rain policy is at Mid-Ohio. Thanks again for your solid reporting and I’m happy you found the website.
