Dave Coombs is the tall guy in the center of the album cover.
I’m sure many of you knew Dave Coombs Sr. was one of the premier promoters of motocross and off-road racing from the 1970s onward. His family now carries on his legacy by running Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship.
Something I bet a lot of people didn’t know was the Dave was a rock star before getting into motocross. Dave was bass player and singer for Elderberry Jak, called by the All Music Guide as “arguably the finest rock band to come out West Virginia.”
I’ve got the group’s 1970 album “Long Overdue”. The music is excellent and sort of a mixture of Crosby, Stills and Nash meets Three Dog Night. My favorite cut is a song called “Mr. Sun.” You can still find the CD today although it’s rare and farily costly.
Larry: Amazon.com offers two new copies of Long Overdue for less than $10 each.

They must have cranked out some more copies. At one time (when I bought it) the CD was going for $20-plus.
